Corregidor Island: A photographer's haven
Living in Manila almost all my life I have always pondered on the thought of going on a day trip to Corregidor. It's one of those tourist sights that are too close yet too far to visit. I bet majority of the people who live in Manila have yet to see this historic island.
Finally, having a visitor from the US who has a great deal of interest in history visited us and it was the perfect push to take the hike.
I finally gave in and purchased that badgering add on the side of my screen for MetroDeal's Day trip to Corregidor and book a tour for our group. We took the most common route to the island. We drove to Esplanade Seaside Terminal to take the ferry operated by Sunrise Cruises. Check their site as they also run promos all the time.
It took us about an hour and 30mins to get to the island by ferry. Once on the island you will be greeted by a trolley bus. You can't find these kinds in the streets of Manila. You will be on and off this trolley during the whole tour, so don't forget your bus number.
I must confess, I did not expect the sights of this place. It carries a heavy burden of unpleasant history of Post-war but to a photographer, this place is a dream.
Its a complete experience of photographing post war ruins, architecture and surreal tunnels that will spark the artistic and photographic side of you. Whether you are a history lover, looking for inspiration, someone who enjoys taking selfies, or an avid photographer like me, you shouldn't miss out on this wonderland!
