Balicasag Haven
If you are an avid diver and have yet to sail across the seas of Bohol in the Philippines, I suggest you start planning.
Balicasag Island is one of the islands of Panglao located in Tagbilaran, Bohol. An hour flight from Manila, Philippines would take you to a whole different world of paradise.
Visitors from all around the world come to Panglao for its white sand beaches and world-class diving sites. It is also very accessible to other natural wonders of Bohol such as the Chocolate Hills, caves, springs, rivers, waterfalls and the tarsiers, known to be the smallest primate in the world. But, more than the sights above ground, beneath all its beauty is an even more precious sight to see.
Balicasag is one of my favorite dive spots in the Philippines. Aside from being an accessible destination it also has a lot of beach life and places to stay that are just 5-minute short banca ("small boat") ride to the dive sites. This time around we stayed ON the island. It was perfect for city dwellers, backpackers and most of all DIVERS!!!
Among the amazing creatures I came across while diving around this amazing island were:
Turtles
Nudis
Shellfish
Puffers
And a whole lot of other fascinating creatures.
What are you waiting for? Pack your gears and make your way to Balicasag Island and meet these wonderful wonders underwater! Only in the Philippines!
